Frequently asked questions
- 01Serenite 8 is primarily for adult women - especially women who feel they’ve lost touch with themselves while juggling motherhood, work, family and the expectations of modern life. If you want to feel better in your body and daily life, and you’re ready to put in some effort with support, coaching may be a good fit.
- 02No. Health coaching is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. I don’t diagnose conditions or prescribe medication. I work alongside your existing medical care - supporting you with lifestyle, mindset and habits while you continue to see your GP or other healthcare professionals where needed.
- 03We begin with a free 10-minute trial call. This is a chance for us to briefly talk about what you’re looking for, for you to ask questions, and for both of us to see if it feels like a good fit. There is no pressure to sign up during the call.
- 04The initial consultation usually lasts around 60-90 minutes (and can be up to 2 hours where needed). We’ll talk through: Your current struggles and priorities Any health conditions and relevant medical history Your past and current habits What you would like to change and how you’d like to feel Together, we’ll agree on 2-3 main goals, plus any additional realistic changes, and a first set of steps to work on before the follow-up session.
- 05Follow-up sessions are usually every 4-6 weeks, depending on your goals and what feels manageable. There’s no strict minimum, but I generally recommend at least the initial consultation plus two follow-ups to allow enough time to see meaningful change.
- 06No. I don’t offer strict diet plans or extreme regimes, and you don’t have to do anything that feels unsafe or unsustainable for you. We’ll look at realistic adjustments to your eating, movement and routines that support your health and fit into your life. The aim is balance, not punishment or perfection. We will try to cut out any destructive habits as soon as possible, but it is always a common agreement with the client.
- 07You’ll be asked to give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may still be charged.
- 08No. I currently work with adults aged 18 and over only.
- 09What you share in sessions is treated as confidential, including your medical history, personal circumstances and relationships. There are a few rare situations where I may need to share information - for example, if I am seriously concerned about your safety or someone else’s, or if we agree it would be helpful to speak to your GP or another professional. You can read more about this in my Privacy Notice.
- 10I collect relevant health and lifestyle information to support our work together - for example current and past medical conditions, medication and supplements, eating and movement habits, stress levels and support networks. Notes may be taken on paper and then transferred to a password-protected computer. Paper notes are kept securely. Records are usually kept for around 2 years, in line with my insurance and professional guidance. For more detail on how your information is stored and used, please see my Privacy Notice.
- 11Yes. I hold professional insurance for my coaching work at Balens and follow relevant professional guidelines and good practice.
